Global adoption of online commerce, streaming video, social networking, and cloud services such as Software as a Service (SaaS) is driving the rapid growth of mega data centers. The storage and computing requirements supported by the data centers present new challenges to connectivity within the data center, in terms of bandwidth, transmission distance, power consumption, and cost.
The product portfolio offered by Source Photonics for data center and cloud applications effectively addresses these requirements and challenges. Covering data rates up to 400Gb/s in compact form factors, Source Photonics’ products enable both green field deployments and the upgrade of existing data centers in a cost-effective manner. Supported interfaces include 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s short-reach and long-reach data center transceivers in SFP+ and QSFP+ form-factor. The 100Gb/s QSFP28 transceiver is based on proprietary technology and has been shipping in high volume since 2016. Source Photonics is quickly developing next generation single lambda 100G technology, in addition to 400G technologies to support the upcoming higher bandwidth requirements of new data center architectures.
