Source Photonics Expand 800G Product Portfolio and Add Short Reach Optical

& Copper Connectivity Solutions into Mass Production at OFC’24

New high-speed short reach portfolio complements award-winning 800G product line targeting to address the soaring data center bandwidth demand for AI/ML Clusters

West Hills and San Diego, CA – March 25, 2024 – Source Photonics, a leading global provider of innovative and reliable technology solutions for communications and data connectivity for use in hyperscale and AI datacenters, today announce to expand 800G product portfolio and move the 800G multimode transceivers, active optical cable (AOC) and the passive/active copper cables (DAC/ACC/AEC) short reach connectivity solutions into mass production during  OFC’24 in San Diego, CA. The short reach connectivity portfolio enhances Source Photonics’ market leadership in the single mode optical transceivers to the full coverage of the AI backend and front-end networking for AI, accelerated computing and cloud services by optimizing the performance, bandwidth and efficiency of the optical & copper links connecting data infrastructure.

Source Photonics first introduced the 800Gbps short reach multimode transceivers and active cables during ECOC 2023 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, which include both the conventional DSP technologies and Linear Direct Drive pluggable (LPO) variants. The outstanding LPO version offers less than 6W and error free connectivity up to 30m. The 800G direct attached copper cable series include linear equalized copper, retimed copper, and passive. Currently, Source Photonics support OSFP/QSFP-DD800/QSFP112 form factors. Leveraging the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China, Source Photonics is able to support the most cost-effective and high-efficient production in industry to accommodate the diversified global supply chain needs to fulfill annual millions of units shipment moving forward.

“Source Photonics’ global engineering and manufacturing footprints have been helping our current customers massively deploy robust 400G network infrastructures worldwide with our market leading and award-winning single mode transceiver products empowered by in-house EML lasers. Our continuous efforts working with industry partners to reduce the Cost-perGigabit and Power-per-Gigabit will lead AI/ML cluster connectivity more affordable and less power cost in operation”, said John Wang, CEO of Source Photonics, “The mass production of 800G short reach optics and cables such as AEC and LPO covers well the 1m to 100m connectivity needs, and will significantly improve our customers’ time-to-market AI/ML clusters deployment.”

Live demonstrations of the Source Photonics’ comprehensive 800G family of optical modules and cables will be conducted during the OFC’24 exhibition by leveraging UfiSpace TH5-based 800G switching platform including the following examples in form of QSFP-DD:

  • 800G SR8 AOC 1m
  • 800G SR8 LPO AOC
  • 800G DAC 1m
  • 800G ACC 3m
  • 800G AEC 3m
  • 800G active loopback module
  • 800G QSFP-DD SR8
