Source Photonics Announce to Receive Industry Awards for Three Product Families at 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews
Market Leading Optical Products Improve Hyperscale & AI Data Center Connectivity and Highlight Company’s Commitment to Innovation and Excellence for Optics Industry
West Hills and San Diego, CA – March 22, 2024 – Source Photonics, a leading global provider of innovative and reliable technology solutions for communications and data connectivity for use in hyperscale and AI datacenters, today announce that three of its groundbreaking product families have been honored as a Lightwave Innovation Reviews High Score Recipient for “best in class” products at the 2024 Lightwave Innovation Review awards. This outstanding award will be presented at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exhibition (OFC’24) on March 25, 2024, to be held at San Deigo Convention Center, San Diego, California.
The 11th annual Lightwave Innovation Reviews saw technology developers submit products introduced or enhanced since March 2023 in various technology categories for review by esteemed and experienced panel of independent judges and experts from across the entire optical communication community. These awards recognize the pioneering technologies and products that are essential for advancing the reach and impact of optical communications on the world.
Source Photonics is a vertically integrated design powerhouse and manufacturing company for optical chips and optics assembly, which enables industry leading optical performance, time to market and power consumption. These new Source Photonics’ award-winning product families includes:
- Single Lambda 200 Gbps PAM4 EML chip for 1.6T: Stands out in the category of Optical Components, as it is essential to the continued speed increases of the industry. Source Photonics released its 200 Gbps PAM4 EML CoC (chip-on-carrier) products, initially demonstrated as a TOSA prototype during OFC 2023. It began production release to selected customers and was adopted internally in their newest 800G DR4/FR4 OSFP/QSFP-DD, 800G LR4 OSFP and 1.6T DR8/2xFR4 OSFP-XD designs. Targeting to support next generation hyperscale and AI/ML data centers’ need for higher speeds and network capacity, Source Photonics is adding 200G PAM4 EML chips to its EML portfolio, including 28GBd and 56GBd EMLs.
- 100G SFP112 Product Family: Honored in the Optical Transceivers and Transponders category for its smallest form factor design to simplify optical transmission over four or two wavelength options. Source Photonics recently announced the general availability of 100G SFP112 product family supporting 500m to 40km distances. Since first launching the 50G SFP56 transceiver product family in 2022, Source Photonics has once again commercialized the industrial smallest form factor 100G SFP112 product series this year, supporting 100G extended reach with 100Gbps serial electrical interfaces. The 100G SFP112 family of products leverage the single lambda 53GBaud EML laser developed in-house for 100G PAM4 signaling. It supports the latest serial 100G transmission through PAM4 encoding, including full-range optical SMF specifications such as DR, FR, LR, and ER per the latest industry standards. It covers transmission distances from 500m, 2km, 10km up to 40km including di-directional transmission using single fiber. These products fully take advantage of Source Photonics’ self-developed 53G EML laser chips, which reduce the power consumption of 100G optical modules to below 2W.
- 800G 4x200G FR4/LR4 OSFP Transceivers: Recognized in the category of Optical Transceivers and Transponders as One of the first to market with a 4x200G 800G transceiver. Source Photonics claims its 800G 4x200G FR4/LR4 OSFP transceivers represent a critical milestone for developing next-generation 200G per lambda-based 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers. The 800G FR4/LR4 OSFP optical modules incorporate the high-power single lambda 200G PAM4 EML lasers assisted with 3D hybrid electro-optical onboard packaging for superior RF characteristics, and with either CWDM4 or LAN-WDM (LWDM) grid low-loss package interconnect design and a WDM multiplexer. The receiving end consists of a highly integrated PIN+TIA receiver array combined with the high-performance start-of-the-art 5nm CMOS DSP equalization algorithm, and the transmission distance can reach up to 2km for CWDM or 10km for LWDM.
Lightwave Editor in Chief Sean Buckley expressed his congratulations, claims “On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate Source Photonics on achieving these well-deserved awards. A score of 4.5 out of 5 represents the excellent product family with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits. This competitive program enables Lightwave to showcase and applaud the most innovative products, projects, technologies, and programs that significantly impact the industry.”
Reflecting on the awards, John Wang, CEO of Source Photonics, commented, “We are proud to be recognized by these distinguished Lightwave awards and the optical communications community at large for our commitment to excellence and looks forward to continuing to deliver cutting-edge optical solutions to the market. We continue to work closely with our partners and customers and provide innovative and reliable technology solutions for the new era of AI/ML.”
