Source Photonics Recognized ECOC Exhibition Industry Awards at ECOC 2024

West Hills, CA and Frankfurt, Germany – September 24, 2024 – At the ECOC 2024 Exhibition Industry Awards event held in Frankfurt, Germany, Source Photonics, a leading supplier of optical communication modules, received the ECOC Industry Award in the category of “Post-Deadline Award” for its compact 50G PON OLT/ONU SFP56 and SFP-DD product family. These annual awards, which were initiated in 2020 for ECOC’s 25th anniversary of exhibition, spotlight exceptional achievements in advancing the business of optical communications, transport, networking, fiber-based products, photonic integration circuits and related developments. Starting in 2024, the Awards Committee established a new competition of Post-Deadline Awards. A key criterion for the Post Deadline Awards is ‘world class’ products and technology. Results need to demonstrate that the product or technology is clearly state-of-the-art and best-in-class. This huge recognition highlights the company’s commitment to innovations in next-gen 50G PON technology for accelerated infrastructure and demonstrates its critical role in driving next-gen access forward.
ECOC is Europe’s largest conference dedicated on optical communications, and one of the largest most prestigious events in the field worldwide. The ECOC Exhibition has been running for nearly 30 years and has grown to become the largest optical communications exhibition in Europe. The awarded 50G PON OLT optical module features the world’s smallest SFP56 packaging to increase the number of ports per line card for customers, allowing network upgrades without changing the layout of equipment rooms or the number of devices. Leveraging its deep R&D capabilities in EML laser chip technology, Source Photonics has successfully developed an integrated SOA high-power 50G 1342nm EML chip, which is first applied to the 50G PON OLT SFP56 C+ optical module product; the product supports industrial-grade temperatures to meet the demands of network deployment in harsh telecommunication environments. During live demonstration, the Rx burst mode sensitivity was tested below <-28.5dBm under loud-soft environment with stronger Tx reference at -13dBm or higher. These are very competitive results to support existing ODN use cases with a decent performance margin. Currently, Source Photonics has initiated technical dialogues and sample testing of this product with leading global PON network equipment manufacturers.

- Source Photonics’ 200Gb/s PAM4 based 800G and 1.6T Transceivers has been shortlisted for the 2024 ECOC Exhibition Industry Award as Best Product in MOST INNOVATIVE PON/5G/FTTX PRODUCT AWARD category. It is worthwhile to mention 800G LR4 QSFP-DD transceiver is the Industry FIRST to run up to 10km reach over single-mode fiber based on 200G per lambda in QSFP-DD form factor targeting telecom markets.

- Source Photonics’ 800G DR8 and 400G DR4 2PIC optical transceivers for immersion cooling markets has been shortlisted for the 2024 ECOC Exhibition Industry Award as Best Product in the “Post-Deadline Award” category. This is the Industry FIRST production shipping of 800G DR8 OSFP and 400G DR4 QSFP112 suitable for single or two phase immersion cooling (2PIC).
